This cohort offers selected participants access to BUILD Institute’s Capital Education Masterclass, where entrepreneurs will learn how to navigate the complex world of business capital. Participants will walk away with a comprehensive understanding of capital types, steps to become capital-ready, and guidance on choosing the best lending products for their individual needs.

Through this hands-on 2-hour workshop, delivered virtually via Zoom, participants will:

​

  • Gain a deep understanding of business capital and readiness

  • Learn essential capital terminology

  • Explore the different stages of business and the financing options available

  • Engage in a live Q&A session with experts to address specific concerns

​

Once the participants complete the Capital Education Masterclass, they will each receive a $5,000 grant to support their businesses. The goal is to arm Detroit’s Black entrepreneurs with not only financial resources but the tools to thrive long-term in their industries.

Who Is Eligible?

​

To be considered for the BUILD To Last cohort, applicants must:

​

  • Be a Black-owned for-profit business operating in the City of Detroit

  • Have been negatively impacted by COVID-19

  • Be willing to participate in the Capital Education Masterclass​

​

We’re looking for 20 entrepreneurs who are ready to take their businesses to the next level. The application is open for one month and closes on October 31st, 2024. Don’t miss your chance to apply!

About BUILD Institute​

BUILD Institute helps aspiring and experienced entrepreneurs turn their business ideas into reality by providing tools, resources, and a strong support network in Detroit. With over 1,800 graduates, they focus on empowering Black, Latinx, and under-resourced communities through education, mentorship, and connections to capital. Their mission is to foster equitable opportunities for ideators and early-stage businesses, offering a nurturing space for growth and success.
